Reviving Precision: Transforming a Speargun with an Invert Conversion

Another demanding reconstruction has been successfully completed, proving that even a speargun in extremely poor condition can be transformed into a brand-new, high-performance tool. This project went beyond simple maintenance or repairs, involving a complete conversion from a conventional system to an invert design. The result? The process began with modifying the head into an invert system. This transformation was carried out in a way that rendered the changes almost “invisible,” maintaining the speargun’s elegance while ensuring functionality without unnecessary materials that typically add extra weight to the head. Additionally, hooks and stoppers were constructed and installed—key components for the proper operation of an invert system.

To secure the placement of the rubber loading hooks, the rear of the speargun was filled with wood to replace the section that was missing due to the prior installation of a horizontal reel.

The speargun’s body was then meticulously adjusted to ensure that neither the ropes nor the pulleys would make contact during operation. This adjustment guaranteed smooth performance while avoiding unnecessary friction and wear.
